CICADA’s Hailey Starolis Featured Article in AIA’s CRIT Journal!

Future architect, CICADA designer, and Drexel student Hailey Starolis had a piece featured in AIA’s January 2019 edition of CRIT Journal

Her article explores the creation of holistic communities, drawing on works from social scientist Jane Jacobs, urban planner Robert Moses, and Phillip Zimpardo’s “Broken Window Theory”, and shows how more recent investigation and development practices in Philadelphia are changing the landscape of once bleak and blighted neighborhoods into thriving communities. The result of such mindful planning and development is shown to have a positive effect on mental and physical health, as well as improved quality of life for the whole community. See pages 38-39 of the journal linked for a readable pdf format.

We are pleased to share the article here – and couldn’t be more proud! Congratulations Hailey!
