Friends' Central Center for Innovation + Design

Client: Friends' Central School

Size: 9,340 s.f.

Conversion of a gymnasium built in 1920 into a fabrication and Innovation Center for the campus. CICADA is inserting a partial second floor into the existing two-story gymnasium, with a wood and metal working studio on the first floor and a Maker Space on the second floor.

The availability of this building, right in the heart of campus, paired with the School’s goal of enhancing STEAM education, created the opportunity to reimagine this building as a new Center for Innovation and Design.
