Benchmark Innovation Center
Benchmark School provides an intentional, supportive learning experience for children with dyslexia, executive function issues, and other language-based learning differences. The key to this approach is incorporating hands-on, project-based lessons using new tools and technology. The Innovation Lab is a tool to promote inspiration, foster creativity, and support collaborative problem-solving. CICADA as the architect of record, worked closely with the design architect, SHoP, to realize this vision.
An undulating, custom fabricated wood slat ceiling and exterior metal cladding exemplify the ideals of such design processes through the use of technology to innovatively and economically customize everyday building materials in a dynamic manner.
